Mumbai, June 10 -- Three youths drowned in the Jagbudi river at Khed in the coastal Ratnagiri district on Wednesday, police said on Wednesday. One person was rescued by locals.
The deceased were identified as Akash Kamble, Naresh Kamble and Kailas Kamble, residents of Mumbai's Kurla area.
According to officials, the four youths had come to Khed for summer holidays and were staying with their relatives. They went to the river for a swim in the afternoon. They waded in but were soon caught in deep under water currents and shouted for help. On hearing their cries, local residents rushed to the spot and pulled one of them out. Despite all efforts, the other three could not be saved, police said.
