Kolkata, Sept. 4 -- West Bengal's food safety officials on Friday turned their attention to the city's fine-dining hub, Park Street, where at least three famed eateries were found operating in violation of hygiene norms.
The officials, belonging to the Health Department, collected samples and inspected leading decades-old food joints. Apart from checking proper documentation, including valid licences, they inspected kitchens, stocks of perishable items and refrigeration facilities on the fourth day of an intensive drive that has brought to light serious lapses at food establishments across the city and districts.
The drive across the state was launched as part of the Special Food Safety Week, which began on September 1.
