Nagpur, June 7 -- Three members of a family, including a six-year-old boy, drowned in the Kanhan river near the Army area in Old Kamptee of Nagpur district on Sunday while attempting to rescue one another, police said.
The deceased were identified as Chaitanya Bablu Ambade (6), Gautam Rajkumar Ambade (31) and Rohit Kailas Nagdeve (33). All three were relatives and part of the same extended family.
Police said around a dozen family members had visited a Shiva temple near the river for darshan and an outing. After the visit, the child entered the river for a bath and reportedly began drowning after venturing into deeper waters.
