Chennai, Aug. 29 -- In a tragic incident, three students of a private college were killed and four others sustained serious injurieswhen the car in which they were travelling overturned following a tyre burst near Madurantakam, about 85 km from here, on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway late last night.
All the seven, who are studying in a private college at Pallavaram, were returning to Chennai from Puducherry when the mishap occurred.
As the car driven at high speed, the driver lost control when one of the rear tyres suddenly burst, and in the impact it overturned on the middle of the road. The impact was such that the car was reduced to a mangled heap.
