Bhagalpur, April 25 -- Three children of a family drowned on Saturday in the Ganga at Tintanga Ganga Ghat under Rangra police station in the district while taking selfies during a bath, police said.

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed deep sorrow over the death of children. He directed the Disaster Management Department to provide an ex gratia compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

Police said families from Chausa and Bhatgama areas of Madhepura district had come to attend a 'mundan' on Friday. The children Gaurav Kumar (10), Sakshi Kumari (12) and Moni Kumari (10) started taking selfies on a mobile phone while bathing in the river.
