Chennai, Aug. 7 -- Even as DMK legislator GV Markandeyan secured bail in the case in which he was charged with abusing and threatening Chief Minister Joseph Vijay at a public rally, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar on Friday referred a slew of complaints demanding action against the Legislator to the Privileges Committee for breach of privilege.
"The Privileges Committee is yet to be constituted, and once it is done, the issue will be sent to the panel. Though the remarks were ata public meeting outside the House, what the member said concerns the dignity of the House and the security of the members, and as such it requires to be dealt with in accordance with established procedures.
