Nardana, Aug. 30 -- In a daring theft, unidentified thieves broke open an SBI ATM using a gas cutter and fled with cash worth lakhs in Nardana town of Maharashtra's Dhule district.
The incident took place late on the night of August 29, just a few steps away from the Nardana police station, raising questions over security arrangements and night patrolling in the area.
According to police, the thieves entered the ATM kiosk and used a gas cutter to cut open the machine and remove the cash before fleeing the spot.
The tampering triggered the bank's alert system, following which the central management was notified. Bank officials subsequently informed the police about the incident.
