Rio De Janeiro, June 23 -- Former Brazil captain Thiago Silva has returned to Fluminense on a free transfer after parting ways with Porto, the Brazilian club said.

The 41-year-old defender agreed to a contract that runs until December this year and will begin training with the first-team squad next week, Fluminense said in a statement on its officialwebsite on Monday"What seemed like a farewell was, in fact, a see-you-soon," the statement read.

"Some stories never truly end." Thiago made 14 appearances for Porto after joining the club ona six-month contract last December. He has made 212 appearances and scored 19 goals over two spells for Fluminense.
