Bangkok, Aug. 12 -- The Thai government has pledged to tighten gun controls and crack down on illegal firearms after two deadly shootings near Bangkok intensified calls for tougher enforcement.
New gun purchase permits have been suspended while firearm control is tightened following last week's deadly school shooting, in which a 14-year-old boy killed eight people before taking his own life.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul ordered government agencies to urgently strengthen firearm controls, according to a statement from his office.
