Mumbai, June 30 -- In a major twist ahead of the election for the Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) fielded Sachin Ahir as its candidate soon after he quit the Sena Uddhav Thackeray group.
Ahir, who was until now an MLC from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, filed his nomination on Tuesday in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, outgoing Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, and Minister Chandrakant Patil. The election is scheduled on July 1, Wednesday.
