Srinagar, April 1 -- Security forces shot dead an unidentified terrorist in an overnight encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district, the Army said on Wednesday.

According to the Army, the terrorist was killed in the Arahama area of Ganderbal during an operation that was launched on Tuesday evening.

"During the night of 31 March 26, the cordon was tactically reorganised amidst the intermittent firing underway. Own troops effectively retaliated with calibrated response resulting in one terrorist eliminated. Operation is in progress," Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said on X.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain was not known immediately.
