Kolkata, April 27 -- Tension prevailed in a part of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Monday following overnight clashes between supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress, with police arresting four persons, including a Trinamul councillor, in connection with the violence.
According to police sources, those arrested include Jagaddal Municipality councillor Gopal Raut.
The arrests were made during overnight raids conducted across Jagaddal and adjoining Bhatpara after clashes broke out between rival groups. However, several accused persons are still absconding, sources said.
