Seoul, Sept. 18 -- India ended the opening day of their Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers second round tie against the Republic of Korea trailing 2-0 here on Friday after both Dhakshineswar Suresh and Sumit Nagal lost their respective singles matches.
The Indian tennis team fell behind in the tie after world No. 367 Dhakshineswar Suresh lost 6-3, 3-6, 4-6 to 157th-ranked Kwon Soon-woo in two hours and five minutes, according to olympics.com.
Suresh broke Kwon Soon-woo in the second game to race to a 3-0 lead. The Indian then served itout to take the opener.
The second set remained on serve until Kwon Soon-woo broke Suresh in the sixth game to go 4-2 up. The South Korean then closed out the set, forcing a decider.
