Hyderabad, Aug. 21 -- Eminent intellectuals and farmer organisations on Friday demanded that the Telangana government immediately begin the process of identifying and recognising tenant farmers and extend government welfare schemes to them.
They warned of a state-wide agitation if the process was not initiated by September.
The demand was raised at a state-level round table organised by the Telangana Kaulu Raithula Gurthimpu Sadhana Committee at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram.
The meeting was attended by Prof Yogendra Yadav, Prof G Haragopal, MLC Prof Kodandaram, Akunuri Murali (Retd. IAS), Justice Chandra Kumar and representatives of several farmer organisations.
