New Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan. 12 -- Escalating its legal battle over inter-State water rights, the Telangana government has decided to file a civil suit in the Supreme Court challenging Andhra Pradesh's proposed diversion of flood waters under the contentious Polavaram-Nallamala Sagar link project.
The decision follows the suggestion of a Chief Justice of India-led Bench, which advised the State to pursue the dispute through a civil suit instead of an original writ petition, enabling a more detailed adjudication of the complex inter-State Godavari river water issue.
