Hyderabad, May 29 -- The Telangana government on Friday released Rs 2,000 crore towards long-pending employee dues in the first phase, fulfilling a key assurance given by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to employees' unions.

According to an official statement, the government had earlier promised leaders of the Employees' Joint Action Committee (JAC) that pending dues amounting to Rs 6,000 crore would be cleared within 100 days.

Acting on the directions of Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Finance Department Special Chief Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania issued orders releasing Rs 2,000 crore on Friday.
