Hyderabad, March 18 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Wednesday said Telangana's power network is fully equipped to handle the electricity demand of up to 19,000 MW, amid rising consumption during the Yasangi (spring) crop season and the summer period.

Chairing a review meeting with senior power department officials at the Assembly premises, Bhatti directed officials and staff to remain alert and ensure uninterrupted power supply across the state.

He noted that peak demand, which stood at 17,162 MW on March 20 last year, has already been surpassed this year, reaching 17,606 MW on March 2 and further rising to 18,228 MW on March 13. On that day, power consumption touched a record 341.08 million units.
