Hyderabad, Aug. 12 -- Telangana's record paddy production over the past few years has been driven largely by favourable monsoons and expansion of groundwater irrigation through borewells, and not by the Kaleshwaram project, according to Prof Aldas Janaiah, Vice-Chancellor of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University.
In a detailed analysis released here on Wednesday, Prof Janaiah attributed the increase in paddy cultivation to ryot-centric measures including Rythu Runa Mafi, Rythu Bima, Rythu Bharosa, 24-hour free power supply and improved water availability across several districts.
He said favourable monsoons during the last decade had been a major factor behind the increase in paddy production in the State.
