Hyderabad, June 15 -- Telangana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Monday directed officials to keep the entire disaster management machinery on high alert in view of forecasts of widespread rainfall across the state from June 19.

Reviewing monsoon preparedness with officials, the Minister stressed that preventive measures and advance planning are more important than responding after disasters occur.

Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he ordered revenue and disaster management officials from the state level down to villages to remain vigilant and fully prepared, an official statement said.
