Hyderabad, Sept. 1 -- Telangana State Mahila Congress president Errabelli Swarna on Tuesday demanded the immediate withdrawal of the FIR registered against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Uttarakhand, alleging that the case was an attempt by the BJP to silence those questioning its actions.
Acting on the directions of the All India Mahila Congress, the Telangana unit organised a protest from Gandhi Bhavan here against the FIR and demanded action against BJP and RSS activists over the alleged "purification" of a spot in Haldwani where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had reportedly sat during a public meeting. As police obstructed the proposed rally, the protesters held a peaceful demonstration in front of Gandhi Bhavan.
