Hyderabad, Jan. 12 -- Telangana Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department has launched a focussed exercise to identify families living in extreme poverty across Telangana and provide them phased support, with Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) playing a key role in the process.
Chairing a review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said poverty identification must reflect ground realities rather than rely only on statistics. She directed officials to adopt clear criteria considering living conditions, income sources, housing, health and employment status of each family.
