Hyderabad, Sept. 7 -- Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday announced steps would be taken on priority to establish an Auto Workers' Welfare Board, in coordination with the Labour Department, and the proposal would be placed before the Cabinet and subsequently the Assembly.

He said auto fares, which had not been revised since 2012, would be reviewed. A committee comprising Transport Department officials and auto union representatives would be constituted to recommend a fare revision.

Prabhakar and Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy held a meeting with representatives of auto workers' unions at the Secretariat and reviewed the action taken on issues discussed at an earlier meeting on August 23. They assured auto-rickshaw...
