Hyderabad, April 26 -- The Telangana government has issued orders to provide automatic sewing machines to skilled women from Backward Classes (BC) to promote self-employment and strengthen their livelihood opportunities.

Under the initiative, sewing machines will be distributed with 100 per cent subsidy to 1,000 women in each Assembly constituency, enabling them to expand tailoring activities and emerge as self-reliant entrepreneurs.

BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reviewed the implementation of the scheme with department officials, including Secretary Balamaya Devi and BC Corporation Managing Director Mallayya Battu, an official statement said on Sunday.
