Hyderabad, Aug. 13 -- The Telangana government will distribute 1.19 lakh sewing machines free of cost to trained women across all 119 Assembly constituencies to promote self-employment and financial empowerment, BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Ponnam said 1,000 sewing machines would be distributed in each constituency in the first phase under a 100 per cent subsidy scheme. Each unit is estimated to cost around Rs 12,000. The online application process will be open from August 15 to September 15.
