Hyderabad, Sept. 10 -- Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Thursday informed the Assembly that the State government has sought the Centre's sanction for 11,56,929 houses identified through the Awas App survey, with approval still awaited.

Replying during Question Hour, the Minister said eight lakh houses had been sanctioned in two phases, involving a State commitment of around Rs 40,000 crore. The first phase covers 4.5 lakh houses at a cost of Rs 22,500 crore, while the second phase covers 2.5 lakh houses at about Rs 11,000 crore, besides Rs 5,500 crore for one lakh urban houses.
