Hyderabad, May 27 -- Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy on Wednesday formally launched 60 new electric buses at the Kukatpally Depot in Hyderabad as part of the "Green Challenge" initiative aimed at promoting eco-friendly public transport.
The Minister flagged off the buses in the presence of Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, MLC Naveen, Medchal District Collector Manu Choudhary, RTC officials, and local leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Ponnam Prabhakar said the government was introducing electric buses to control pollution levels in Hyderabad and ensure that the city does not turn into "another Delhi" in terms of air pollution.
