Hyderabad, May 18 -- Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Monday said protecting the lives and property of people is the government's foremost responsibility and stressed the need for rapid response and preparedness during disasters such as floods, fires and industrial accidents.

As part of statewide disaster management preparedness exercises, the Minister inspected a large-scale flood mock drill conducted at the HMDA Grounds on Necklace Road in Hyderabad along with senior officials from various departments.

Addressing the gathering, Ponguleti said the first hour after a disaster, referred to as the "Golden Hour," is the most crucial in saving lives.
