Hyderabad, Sept. 12 -- Telangana Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Vakiti Srihari on Saturday said the State government was taking steps to strengthen Vijaya Dairy and improve the welfare of dairy farmers.

Replying to questions in the Legislative Council on milk procurement, the Minister said the recent decline in procurement was temporary and mainly due to the prolonged lean season. Vijaya Dairy's average daily procurement was 3.60 lakh litres in 2023-24, 4 lakh litres in 2024-25 and 3.36 lakh litres in 2025-26.

Srihari clarified that there were no outstanding dues to dairy farmers towards milk procurement payments and said Telangana farmers were receiving the highest procurement prices in the country.
