Hyderabad, May 21 -- : The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) on Wednesday issued an advisory warning cricket fans against rising incidents of fake IPL ticket scams being operated through social media platforms, fake websites, Telegram and WhatsApp groups, and unauthorised agents.
According to the advisory issued by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, cybercriminals are targeting IPL fans by offering fake VIP and VVIP passes, heavy discounts and last-minute ticket deals for IPL matches.
In several cases, fraudsters allegedly collect money through UPI payments, QR codes or bank transfers before either sending fake tickets or disappearing after receiving payment.
