Hyderabad, April 18 -- Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest on Saturday to prevent a protest march towards the Chief Minister's residence in Jubilee Hills, organised against the Congress for blocking the Women's Bill.

The BJP has geared up to confront the Congress over its opposition to the Women's Bill, with several party leaders reportedly placed under house arrest.

Rao had called for a protest march to the Chief Minister's residence; however, police stopped him at his home.

"We will not spare the Congress, which has betrayed women's empowerment," Mr Rao said angrily while under house arrest.
