Hyderabad, March 28 -- The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Saturday passed a resolution to take over Phase-I of the Hyderabad Metro Rail network from Larsen & Toubro through Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited.

Moving the resolution, Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy said the Phase-I network spans 69 kilometres and is currently under private management.

He said the proposed takeover is aimed at resolving technical, legal and administrative hurdles that have delayed further expansion of the metro network.

The Chief Minister noted that the Centre had raised concerns over taking up new metro phases while the existing network remained under private control.
