Hyderabad, Nov. 10 -- Telangana has achieved a significant milestone in paddy procurement this Kharif season, with 8.54 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) purchased so far-more than double the 3.94 LMT recorded during the same period last year.

Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao reviewed the procurement progress on Monday via video conference with district collectors and civil supplies officials.

The meeting, held from the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat and chaired by Chief Secretary S Ramakrishna Rao, focused on preparedness, payment systems, storage and protection of harvested crops, an official statement said.
