Mulugu (Telangana), Sept. 3 -- A 50-year-old tribal labourer was killed after a pressure IED exploded in the Karregutta hills near Bedam Gutta in Mulugu district on Wednesday evening, police said today.
The deceased, Madakam Nageshwar Rao, a resident of Edulla Cheruvu Colony in Nuguru village, had gone into the forest along with five other villagers for bamboo cutting. While returning around 1600 hours, the IED exploded causing severe injuries to his left leg.
His fellow villagers carried him on foot through the forest while attempting to take him back to the village. However, he succumbed to his injuries at around 2100 hours on the way. The villagers reached Nuguru at about 0400 hours and informed the local police.
