Hyderabad, March 31 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Tuesday said the 'Mahalakshmi Scheme' has enabled women to undertake nearly 300 Crore free bus journeys, resulting in savings of Rs 10,000 Cr. and significantly benefiting poor and middle-class families.

Speaking at a felicitation programme held at Praja Bhavan to mark the milestone of Rs 10,000 Cr. in savings achieved through 290 crore free bus journeys undertaken by women under the 'Mahalakshmi' scheme of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), the Deputy Chief Minister said the scheme was launched immediately after the formation of the "Indiramma Government," fulfilling a key election promise.
