Karimnagar, April 15 -- An Assistant Engineer of Huzurabad Municipality was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 on Wednesday.

According to an ACB release, Nusum Sudhakar Reddy, working in the Municipal Administration Department, was trapped by the ACB Karimnagar unit at RTC Depot Chowrastha in Huzurabad.

He had allegedly demanded the bribe from a contractor to show official favour by recording entries in the Measurement Book and processing the final bill for stormwater drain works executed within the municipality.

The tainted amount was recovered from the officer at his instance. Officials said the accused had acted dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
