Patna, Sept. 14 -- Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and RJD national working president Tejaswi Yadav today urged the Centre to take cognisance of the flood situation in the state, with 45 lakh people affected, assess the loss of life and property and provide necessary assistance.

Yadav said around 45 lakh people had been affected by the floods in Bihar, with more than 50 deaths reported and extensive damage to property and livestock.

He said that when Gujarat faced heavy rains and flooding, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah had actively sought updates from the state government and directed various agencies to remain prepared for relief and rescue operations.
