Mumbai, Aug. 19 -- A 16-year-old boy drowned at Pandavkada waterfall near Kharghar-Taloja Jail Road in neghbouring New Mumbai city here , police and fire officials said here on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Pranav Mishra, a resident of Kurla, officials said.
According to fire brigade officials, despite the strong flow of water at the waterfall during the monsoon, a rescue operation was launched immediately after receiving information about the incident.
After an extensive search, the rescue team found Pranav trapped in a crevice of a rock at a depth of about 10 to 12 feet.
The team pulled him out with considerable effort, but he was declared dead, officials added.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom in the area.
