Chennai, May 25 -- Amid the Opposition targetting the ruling TVK headed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay in view of the rising incidents like murders in the State, a 17-year-old boy was hacked to death by a five-member gang near the world famous Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai early on Monday.

Police said five people arrested within hours after the murder. Preliminary inquiries revealed that previous enmity was said to be the reason for the murder.

Due to the previous enmity, a dispute arose during the annual Chithirai festival recently which was said to have resulted in the murder.
