Mumbai, Aug. 28 -- A 15-year-old boy's passion for flamingos and migratory birds has prompted BJP Maharashtra Legislative Council member Niranjan Davkhare to take up the cause of protecting the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR)'s rapidly degrading wetlands.
Davkhare, whose son Vihan regularly visits the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary to observe migratory birds, has taken a keen interest in wetland conservation following discussions at home about flamingos, biodiversity and the environment.
"Flamingos and the environment have become regular topics of discussion because my son Vihan is passionate about nature," Davkhare said while meeting environmental activists.
