Akola, Nov. 10 -- A leisure trip to the seaside turned tragic for a private coaching class from Akola, when a teacher and a student drowned at Kashid Beach in Raigad district, police said on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Ram Kute (60), a teacher from Akola, and Ayush Ramteke (19), a student. Another student, Ayush Bobde (17), who was also swept away by waves, was rescued safely, according to police.
Preliminary reports indicate that a group of 12 students and three teachers from a private coaching institute in Akola had travelled to Kashid Beach as part of an excursion on Saturday.
While at the beach, three members of the group ventured into the sea and were caught in strong currents.
