Taipei, Aug. 5 -- Taiwan's Defence Minister Wellington Koo has said the island nation's military cooperation with the US is far more extensive than publicly acknowledged, stating that it was an active albeit secretive on-site collaboration.
Speaking to a small group of reporters, Koo said Taipei had been working closely with the US military through on-the-ground exchanges and training, according to The Wall Street Journal.
"Our collaboration with the US is far closer than you might imagine," Koo said.
"The public sees only the arms sales, but in fact, it's multifaceted and involves so much more," he added, noting that Taiwan had "been learning so much practical combat experience from the US" through military exchanges.
