Bengaluru, June 19 -- India's star table tennis player Manika Batra has triggered a major controversy over national team selection after expressing strong disappointment at her omission from the main squad for the 2026 Asian Games, raising serious questions over transparency and consistency in the selection process of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).

Batra, one of India's most decorated paddlers and a former Commonwealth Games gold medallist, has been named only among the reserves for the continental event to be held in Nagoya and Aichi from September 19 to October 4, 2026, along with Swastika Ghosh.
