New York, Aug. 31 -- Defending champion Iga Swiatek survived a scare to storm into the fourth round of the 2025 US Open after a dramatic 7-6(2), 6-4 win over No. 29 seed Anna Kalinskaya at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center here on Saturday.
Swiatek, who struggled with her serve early, fell behind 1-5 in the opening set as Kalinskaya capitalized on 15 unforced errors and a low first-serve percentage from the world No. 2.
Swiatek fought back as Kalinskaya faltered on crucial points, including four set points at 5-2 and several double faults. Swiatek ultimately clinched the set in a tiebreak, 7-2, after a pivotal seven-shot rally.
