Kolkata, Aug. 20 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari conducted an aerial survey of extensive areas in Ghatal, Arambagh and Sabang affected by heavy rain and flooding, and reviewed the rescue and relief operations in the worst-hit areas on Thursday.
The Chief Minister, speaking to the media after the review meeting, said two people had died in Sabang due to the floods and their families would be provided compensation of Rs 9 lakh each.
"So far, according to the initial estimate, around 3200 houses have been damaged due to flooding. The state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 30,000 to all the families whose houses have been damaged," he said.
