Kolkata, Sept. 10 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari requested Durga Puja committees across the state not to allow Communist organisations to set up book stalls at Puja venues if they use the term 'Sharadotsav' instead of explicitly writing 'Durga Puja'.

Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday, Adhikari said his government respected the religious beliefs of people belonging to all communities and that Muslims, Buddhists, tribal communities and others were free to practise their faith without interference.

However, he accused a section of what he described as "Leftist professors" of selectively targeting Hindu and Sanatan traditions.
