Kolkata, May 27 -- Inspector Goutam Das, the former officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalighat police station who was suspended during the recent West Bengal Assembly elections over a controversial social media post, has now got a placement in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

According to an official order issued by the state government, Das has been placed on deputation at the office Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

The order directs the Kolkata Police Commissioner to release him from his present posting in the South Division to enable him to join the CMO.

The government order also stated that Das's seniority in the parent police force would remain protected for the purposes of promotion and career advancement.
