Bhubaneswar, Aug. 30 -- Police in Odisha's Kendrapara district today detained a suspected Bangladeshi infiltrator carrying an unlicensed firearm, from a coastal village in Rajnagar police station limits, police said.

The accused Mrutunjaya Mandal, who claimed to be a native of Sandeshkhali Subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, had migrated to Gupti village in Rajnagar police station jurisdiction to work as an agricultural worker.

He was nabbed with the firearm. Further investigation is underway as he has failed to furnish documentary proof of Indian citizenship, said Naresh Sahu, the Inspector-In-Charge, Rajnagar police station.
