Agartala, July 23 -- A group of surrendered NLFT militants, who were involved in mass killings, kidnappings, and extortion targeting civilians and security forces across Tripura for more than a decade until 2006, submitted a memorandum to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, urging the implementation of the 2024 tripartite peace accord.
The group sought rehabilitation for surrendered members and welfare initiatives for the tribal community. Its president, Prasenjit Debbarma, expressed concern that nearly two years after the peace agreement was signed on September 4, 2024, around 90 percent of surrendered members are yet to receive the rehabilitation benefits promised under the accord.
