Washington, Nov. 8 -- The US Supreme Court on Saturday temporarily blocked a lower court's order that mandated the Trump administration to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), withholding approximately USD 4 billion in payments for the food benefits program.

The order, issued by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, provisionally blocked the ruling from US District Judge John McConnell of Rhode Island. McConnell had directed the administration to fully transfer the funds by Friday night, but the Supreme Court's decision grants the government additional time for the appeals process.
