New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a petition seeking directions to petrol pumps to display the percentage of ethanol blended in petrol and mention the ethanol content on fuel bills and receipts.
A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale allowed petitioner and advocate N K Goswami to approach the High Court concerned with his grievances.
During the hearing, Goswami argued that consumers have a right to know the ethanol content in petrol.
The Attorney General opposed the manner in which the petition was pursued and termed it a "proxy petition", while noting that a similar plea was dismissed last year.
